At a glance

Arboris is a world buried in trees. Boundless dark forests called the Endless Deep - wip surround the continents.  Descending into those depths will force you to confront the ever increasing wildness, the most dangerous monsters, and the chance of you running into a Deep Beast - wip is greater than zero.  The common folk live in fear of the Deep and the monsters that lurk there. The nobility see it for what it is - an untamed goldmine of resources both magical and material.

The Endless Deep

The land and this forest of trees are in a constant clash with each other.  Chloris - wip, the magic of the world, keeps the forest growing at an alarming rate.  It slows considerably at the edges of each kingdom thanks to the tamed surface, but if the borders are left unchecked, the Endless Deep threatens to overtake everything once again.  This is most evident in the Lowroad - wips, large pathways carved out of the Deep.  Trees and monsters are always looming, threatening to reclaim this stolen ground.

The 7 Kingdoms

The known world of Arboris consists of 7 continents rising from the sea of trees like small bastions of safety.  Their history is fraught with conflict, fighting to control the Lowroads, and battling for resources.  Each kingdom is ruled by a Warlord - wip. A tenuous truce was reached when Dexor - wip, warlord of the Verdara - wip, brought the warring factions together.  While each nation has a startling amount of autonomy, they have all agreed to follow Dexor.  Small conflicts still arise, particular among the Lowroads where warlords vie to control as much of them as possible.

What’s out there?

No one really knows. It’s hard to explore farther than the outer edges of the known land. You will find no support and barely any haven past what is charted. Willowglen - wips can offer safety and the chance of a Gravefount - wip, but new ones are sparse and hard to come by. The Deep is also pocketed with caves, some claim them to be endlessly connected. Riches and danger are abundant if you are brave enough to venture within. If you can make it deep enough, there are even rumors of castles erected among the trees by wizards powerfully enough to survive in exile or mighty warriors with a following loyal enough to hide out in the depths while they build strength!
